Die Bibliothek 2030: InfoSphere

Auf dem in dieser Woche stattfindenden ZERO ONE Festival in San José (zusammen mit dem ISEA, International Symposium of Electronic Art), „Seven Days of Art and Interconnectivity“ …

The ZeroOne San Jose Festival will transform San Jose into the North American epicenter for the intersection of art and digital culture by showcasing the world’s most innovative contemporary artists. ZeroOne San Jose is artists making art and using technology as a tool to do so. It is not technology for technology’s sake. ZeroOne San Jose is a multi-dimensional, startling and brilliant audience event – with exhibits, live cinema, performances, workshops, and youth activities. All are one-of-a-kind, many never-before, only-here experiences. Here are some details about what you will find at ZeroOne San Jose: A Global Festival of Art on the Edge.

… wird die Bibliothek als „Kunstwerk am Rand“ gedacht in der Performance SpecFlic2.0

SPECFLIC 2.0 * Speculative Distributed Cinema
August 9, 2006 9:30pm to 12am
@ Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library
150 E. San Fernando St., San Jose

Live, site-specific multimedia event written and directed by Adriene Jenik – exploring the intersection of digital media, books, and reading. SPECFLIC 2.0 portrays 2030 as a time in which audio-visual media dominate, and the next generation of students and scholars develope within this InfoSphere.

„2030. The Public Library has been incrementally transformed into the Universal Knowledge Repository known as the InfoSphere. The InfoSphere is a generally accessible, multi-lingual digital archive that expands exponentially on an hourly basis. The public accesses the InfoSphere independently of the library building, and the role of the library and librarians has shifted to accommodate these changes: local public libraries now assist people in locating the bits they need in this overwhelming the data flow. They also issue reading licenses, which are necessary to access various tiers of knowledge, and enforce information access filters.“

„The InfoSpherian is the 2030 equivalent of the information/reference desk service person. Her position has been upsized to encompass several distinct functions: library docent, reading license enforcement, and navigational aid to the InfoSphere.“

Sie sieht so aus:

Aber auch die anderen Performances von ZERO ONE sind sicher sehenswert. Nichts wie hin.
